Sodium hypophosphite is crystalline water with one molecule. Salty, easy to absorb moisture, soluble in water, alcohol, glycerin, insoluble in ether. Heating above 200° C causes sudden decomposition and releases phosphine. Sodium hypophosphite is a strong reducing agent that explodes when exposed to strong oxidants.
